PUERTO ESCONDIDO, OAXACA – (August 2nd, 2010) – Zicatela had hell of a show this morning with the end of the fourth round. The first heat of the day started with local Edwin Morales and Jeremy Loefstok. Conditions were tough, but Morales was able to find a couple of scores to take the heat. The last heat of round 4 was between Brazilians Hermano Castro and Felipe Mendez. Mendez started strong, but Castro waited for the bigger set and got the scores to take a spot in the quarterfinals.

Chui Silva.

QF1 had local talent Jesus Silva and the wave magnet, Magno “Magneto” Oliveira. Oliveira took an early lead finding the bigger waves and going for massive Rollos. Silva was not able to find a good score during the whole heat, giving Magno the first spot in the semis. In qf2, good friends Hubbard and Murdock were having a good time in the water. Hubbard found a great hollow left, were he busted a huge invert. Murdock had a couple of scores but nothing impressive for the judges. Hubbard sealed the deal with another big invert on a clean Puerto right to take the heat.
The second half of the round saw a soft onshore breeze, but the conditions were fully contestable. QF3 was between Aruba’s standout Gregory Wonters and Peruvian Cesar Bauer. It was an intense heat and Bauer was able to find the good scores to take a place in SF2. The last heat of the day had the last Mexican in the contest, Edwin Morales vs. Hermano Castro from Brazil.
Morales took an early lead with a couple of Rollos, but Castro’s strategy came to play in the last 4 minutes of the heat, finding the best wave of the heat, an 8.5 barrel to invert, taking the last spot in the semis.

SF1 Magno “Magneto” Oliveira vs. Dave Hubbard
SF2 Cesar Bauer vs. Hermano Castro.

DK and women’s QF and SF will run tomorrow, leaving the men’s semis and all finals for Wednesday with a decent south swell.
